Race The Sun: A quick status update

Hey all, I just wanted to let you know where we’re at with Race The Sun.

As you may know – we had set an “estimated release date” of May on our Kickstarter.  We’ve obviously slipped a little bit past that – but things are coming along pretty well! We recently released the first version of the game’s Relay Mode to our beta testers, and we’ve had some great feedback on it from our Beta team (thank you!)

This week, we’re working on the Simplex World Creator, our in-game editor that will let our fans create their own game modes. If all goes well, it will be in the hands of our Beta testers this weekend.
And next week, I’m heading up to Forest’s house for about 5 straight days of nothing but working on the game. I’ve personally never been more excited for overtime, because we’re getting pretty close to getting this game done!
Also some big news, we decided to bring on a  bit of programming help to get us across the finish line faster!

David Laskey is someone we met this spring at the Wisconsin Game Developer Summit. He and some other students were showing their co-op game Tetrapulse, and we were super impressed. He’s already a Unity expert, he’s familiar with the game, and he obviously knows his stuff, so this was an easy choice. David will be helping out with adding the rest of the player levels and abilities for starters – so soon you’ll be hearing about the rest of what the game will offer for unlockables – and those of you on the Beta team will have a lot more to play with.

That’s all for now – stay tuned for lots of Race The Sun news in the coming few weeks!
