My version of the story: You don’t know how you got to this nightmarish place, nor how you got the glider. The world here is so eerie, the plain is merely a husk of what it once was. Everything is devoid of colour, save for the sun. It is the one joy you get in this world, racing towards it gives you a feeling like no other. It is your addiction; without it you are nothing. Attempting to describe it would be like explaining the vividness of colours to the blind, or the feel of anothers skin to those that cannot feel. You know that the closer you get to it the stronger the feeling gets, and you know that you must beat the others to it, some crash into the landscape and die but you do not care; you race on. You know you must get to that place before the sun disappears. What you don’t know is- that sun is the only portal home, back to the life of Jamie Sullivan; the forever pilot

Note:Doesn’t have to be jamie sullivan, but I needed a quick name

“It’s all about the imagination… yeah, imagination, that sounds great. But why? Is it one of those ‘you are caught in a room and have to escape from your imagination’ storys? Not exactly.

It’s your imagination that escapes from you! And, to be honest, it’s you who give your imagination the power to escape.

But your power fades out… and the sun goes down.

Well, the power doesn’t fade for real, you just use it to form the Land into hazards to stop your imagination.

Yeah, now that is a nice paradoxon!

    Voooooooshhhh
It would never be popular they said, not ever. But they were wrong weren’t they, even now you know that people are watching, sitting on the edge of their chairs and gripping their armrest and watching, you.
    Vooooooosssshhhh
From what you had heard betting rings were popping up all over betting on everything about the new sport, your sport. Distance, time, score, but the most popular bet was always if the racer would end the day unscathed.
    Vooooooooooooossssssshhhhhh
That one was close, too close. There will time later to dwell on your success, time when you aren’t hurtling through the middle of nowhere in your glider, the first in a line made specifically the race. You grin as you reach the area leading to the next region. You know that even if it wasn’t for the money, the endorsements, the popularity, you would still be out here. You’re addicted, addicted to the adrenaline, addicted to the speed, addicted to the best race of them all. Racing not against people, or clocks, but nature itself, you can’t win, but you don’t need to. You race the sun

This game is absolutely awesome, I love the sounds effects and the real sense of speed when travelling in the glider. The objectives are often challenging but not overly difficult. There is a real incentive to play over and over again with the bonus up for grabs each day, I do believe the resolution could be increased though and I also think there you be more textures, for example different colours spires and barriers etc. I also would like to see that as you travel through the stages more, like trveling over desert or over snow to add a further sense of progressing towards the sun as the environment changes as you progress. All in all a brilliant game.

Just let me out of here.
I’ve been told that there’s no way out. That it’s nothing but an endless plain of scorched earth and monoliths out there. They’ve also told me that it couldn’t get any worse here. Yes, it could.
I only managed to finish my invention a few days before they banned everything. Figured I’d need something fast to cross something rumoured to be endless. I hid that beautiful metallic bird, the stuff that dreams are made of and waited for my chance to get away.
And so I did. The sun was glaring at me as I broke the barriers, ignoring the baffled guards. The sunlight was blinding me. The speed was almost unbearable. The monoliths scattered across the land were small, dark minions of Death. It really did seem endless. There was nothing but my inevitable death on the horizon.
And it was still better out here, alone with Charon, waiting for his chance to cross the Styx with me. It was a more likely scenario than me crossing the desert, that’s for sure.
Just let me out of here.
It all became a blur after a while. Deadly stones on my left, a flash of movement to the right. Death on my left, I sway my little bird to the other side. Left, right, right, left, cheating the Reaper again and again. The sun was blinding me. Left, right, right, left.
Charon, what do you think? How long to go?
    Not long left, he answered.
Incomprehensible velocity. More and more stallions of death in my way. A desert, just as endless as it was when I started my journey. Left, right. A metallic bird looking for a safe haven in an unforgiving world. A world where everything was banned. Right, left.
Charon, tell me it’s been worth it. I’m not so sure anymore that this is better than it was back there.
You made the right decision, he tells me. It’s a shame that he is no more than a figment of my imagination.
The sun’s getting lower and lower. The shadows are so long. I can’t focus anymore. I need the light. I need more light. I need more time.
It seems I have no choice but to race the sun.
This desert is completely devoid of life. It’s just sand and stones. And no salvation.
Is it seriously better here than it was back there? The sun’s giving up on me now, too!
It has to be! Just let me out of here!
Left, right. If only I had just a few more minutes! Left, left. Fly, my bird, fly! Right. My only companion! Right. You never told me you were a raven! Left, right! I can’t see anything anymore! Left, left! I need more light! Right! I need more time!
And then, a moment of silence.
    Charon, is that you?

I like Luci’s rendition! Well done!

Before I read this thread I thought the game was more about leaving someplace you didn’t want to be rather than going to some specific destination. The sun provided power to your speedy flier so you raced the sun to get as far away from where you were.

On second thought, what if you were once a wealth adventurer and developed your own space vehicle. Once you made it to space, you either found a devoid planet or the planet you left has since been destroyed. You run low on the resources you had originally planned in your space odyssey and decide it is time to land. Once on the surface you recycle parts from your lander to create the sleek flier. Powered by the sun, you are in a desperate attempt to find any signs of life or items to keep you going.
