Weekly Dev Journal 5: Play This!




Here’s our day-late devlog for Race The Sun.
After 5 weeks, we’re really happy with our progress! Here’s a sampling of what we did this week:

1. Added about 25 new building types. The plan is to randomly pick a few styles for each day.
2. Added a new player ship model. Still a w.i.p!
3. Adjusted the speed of the first round – people were getting bored there.
4. New cloud model
5. Gamepad support!

Note 1: The powerup spawning frequency is a bit out of whack in this week’s build. Hopefully we’ll be honing in on this balance stuff next week.

Note 2: I added gamepad support, but all I have is an old clunky Sidewinder so I can’t really test it. If anyone out there has a decent gamepad, could you give it a try and let me know what you think?

Note 3: Really I’m just filling space now so the web player doesn’t overlap the “recent posts” section in the margin.
