Race The Sun Linux Demo
We are planning to release Race the Sun for Linux, along with PC and Mac.
Unfortunately, there’s no Unity web player for Linux, so you can’t enjoy the (rather polished!) alpha demo we published to Kongregate last year.
But we want to give our Linux fans a taste of the game, so we’re providing you with a rough demo of the game in downloadable form here:
Note: There is not yet a resolution dialog implemented for the Linux version. In the meantime, these commandline options may work for you:
-screen-width
-screen-height
DISCLAIMER:
This version of the game was created amidst some fairly extensive changes to the game. There ARE several bugs, in particular with the game-over screen. Please don’t consider this to be representative of the final gameplay – but rather a “tech demo” of sorts to give you a feel for what it’s like to hurtle through this procedural world at 600 meters/second. The final game will have a polished objectives and player abilities system, ship customization, multiple game modes, and if our Kickstarter succeeds, a form of multiplayer and powerful world creation tools with a community focus. But for now, just play around a bit and enjoy the ride!
Beyond the obvious bugs – we would love to hear your feedback and suggestions, so don’t hesitate contact us about anything!
We’ll have an updated demo for you soon, hopefully before the end of the Kickstarter!
Thanks for your support,
-Aaron & Forest.
